cricklade county way

Sustrans

Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity, working on practical projects so people can choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment. Sustrans' element within the Cricklade Country Way project will be the creation of a continuous traffic free path between Swindon and Cricklade, forming part of route 45 of the National Cycle Network. This new route is under development, and will run from Gloucester to Salisbury.

There is a huge potential for tourism with the inclusion of this significant traffic free section as it will provide a highly attractive gateway to Swindon. With the town being approximately half way between Gloucester and Salisbury it will provide a convenient stop over on this challenge route.

This route will also provide access for the residents of Swindon and Cricklade to the countryside in a safe environment. A number of circular routes will be available, whether alongside the reinstated canal, or beside the steam railway, with Cotswold Water Park a little further beyond Cricklade providing further routes and recreational activities
